The Nenagh U16 team had a heartbreaking, last play defeat in the North Munster League final at home to Bruff RFC last Wednesday evening. Having raced into a 21-3 first half lead, all signs pointed to Nenagh getting their hands on the silverware. Credit to a dogged Bruff side though who stayed in the fight and slowly but surely chipped away at the Nenagh lead in the 2nd half, dominating territory and forcing Nenagh to chase scores from deep in their own half. Two Bruff tries left Nenagh with a precarious 4 point lead as the game entered injury time. Bruff, perhaps having gained lessons in a cup final defeat in Musgrave Park the previous weekend, remained composed and worked an opening out wide to score on the very last play. The conversion was added and the final score read 24-21 to Bruff. While devastated with the final result this Nenagh side played their part in a wonderful display of rugby on the night. They have the opportunity to immediately avenge the defeat when they face the same team in the North Munster Cup, again at home, this Sunday in Lisatunny. All support would be very much appreciated. Kick off is at 12.00pm.
