Nenagh u15s v Ennis
Nenagh Ormond under 15s played Ennis at home last Sunday. Weather conditions were difficult with a swirling breeze and greasy ball. Nenagh kicked off the game with the wind at their backs. They started slowly in the first 10 minutes and found themselves 12 points behind. From the second score in the first half Nenagh controlled the game but struggled to turn it into points. The breakthrough was made 20 minutes into the half, Ben Madden making greats yards in midfield to set up a platform for the pack. After multiple penalties were conceded by Ennis on their own line, they were in yellow card territory. From a quick tap Aidan Steed carried strong like he did all day and brought us to the line. Luke Slattery carried next and was held up just short but Alex Monko with some quick thinking picked at the base and buried his way over for the try. Kaden Fogarty added the conversion. The rest of the half was a tight affair with neither team giving an inch.
In the second half the rain started to fall and made for very difficult handling conditions. Ennis scored 2 breakaway tries while Nenagh were unlucky not to add to the score board with some handling errors when in key attacking positions. In fairness to the team that took to the field every player never let their heads drop and even with the last play Nenagh were pounding the Ennis line looking for a score. Training continues Wednesday evening.
