Nenagh Ormond U15 34 Young Munster 17
Nenagh Ormond under 15s played Young Munster in the quarter final of the north Munster cup on Sunday morning. After a couple of days of rain the day turned out to be perfect day for running rugby. Nenagh were very slow to get going and seemed very lethargic in everything they did and Young Munster capitalised on this and raced into a 12 nil lead after 15 minutes. However, Nenagh showed great character to run in two tries of their own before half time. The first try was scored by Anluan White after a good break by Aleks Monko and was brilliantly converted by Cody O’Connor. The second try was finished off by Cian Murphy in the corner after some brilliant play by Aidan Steed and Joe Fahy. The half time score was 12 all.
The second half turned out to be a different affair with Nenagh out of the blocks early. The drop off was fielded by Cody Sheedy who then found Anluan White who took on the Young Munster defenders and scored a great individual try. Nenagh kept the momentum going and scored again soon after when Alex Monko made a break up the left wing and ended up getting tackled just under the posts. Anluan White then picked and powered his way over the line. Nenagh were in full flow at this stage. Again Anluan found himself in the 22 and beating the full back passed to Luke Slattery who dotted down. The final score by Nenagh was a result of some very impressive link play between Aleks Monko and Luke Slattery with the latter winning a kick chase and availing of a favourable bounce to score a well worked try. Young Munster scored again in the corner in the last play of the game to leave the final score 34 to 17. Overall Nenagh did well in the end considering they’ve had three tough games in the under 16s competition. Training continues Wednesday with Shannon at home next Sunday in the semi final.
