Young Munster ran out emphatic winners in this round 9 AIL tie at Greenfields, scoring 7 tries in a dominant second half performance to overwhelm bottom side, Nenagh Ormond.  With the scoreline finely balanced at 8-5 going into half-time, Nenagh had more than a glimmer of hope, but this was quickly wiped out as the hosts surged 17 points ahead within 8 minutes of the restart through tries from Kieran Ryan and Stephen McLoughlin. With out-half Kelvin Langan pulling the strings and finding holes in the Nenagh defence, there was no let up for the visitors as the Cookies ran in further tries through Oran O’Reilly, John Poland, Fionn Gibbons and Christian Foley and Luke McCready.

Former Munsters’ player Derek Corcoran made an impact late on with a sublime cross-field kick for winger Davey Gleeson to score a consolation try in the corner, but this was very much too little, too late for Nenagh who remain pointless at the foot of the table.

Even though this is only their third win of the season, Young Munster move up into 6th place and within striking distance of 4th placed Terenure, who lost away to Old Belvedere. On this performance, they will fancy their chances of challenging for a play-off spot.

The league now takes a four week break over Christmas, with the reverse fixtures scheduled for January 10th when Nenagh will host Young Munster in New Ormond Park.
