U-14 Match Report
Nenagh Ormond 10 Old Crescent 45
On Sunday last our U14s took on an unbeaten Old Crescent side in Tyone in the North Munster league. Following on from a promising performance the previous Sunday we were optimistic that we could replicate it again. Unfortunately, things didn't go our way in the first half and we found ourselves a couple of tries down. A well worked scrum near the end of the first half saw Jack McNamara barge over for our first try, and early in the second half Mikey Morgan powered his way over for our second try. This was as good as it got though, and although we played very well on the second half, we couldn't break down a well organised Old Crescent defense. All Nenagh players got lots of game time and in fairness we fought until the end, kept our heads up and continued working hard until the final whistle. A lot of our basics are very good, team spirit is fine, and we are confident that we can turn things around.
On the day our numbers were bolstered as we welcomed back Matthew Coffey and Jack O'Callaghan, both of whom played very well.
All in all, a tough day but there were lots of positives, and with a little hard work and application we can improve. We wish a speedy recovery to a few injured players, particularly Zac Keller and Josh McLoughlin. We are in a bit of a transition period now, as we grow accustomed to the step up in U14 rugby.
Our thanks to Fergus Austin for refereeing at short notice, and best of luck to a fine Old Crescent side. Final score NORFC 10 Old Crescent 45.
