U16 Munster Club Cup
Clonmel 29-7 Nenagh Ormond
Nenagh Ormond Under 16s travelled to Clonmel on Sunday for the fourth round of the Pan Munster Cup competition. Both teams had two wins apiece in this very tight group and Nenagh were hoping to continue their winning ways after the previous week’s great comeback win against Cashel. Unfortunately, on the morning of the game Nenagh lost five of the previous week’s team to a combination of injury and illness but this team have been through many ups and downs over the last three seasons and don't let problems like this upset them.
Clonmel played the first half with a strong wind and Nenagh defended gamely but with Clonmel showing more cohesion they scored four unanswered tries. The second half saw Nenagh attack more and score a good team try finished by Darragh Tucker. Clonmel finished the game with a try also. Final score 29-7.
Individually all the Nenagh players did very well but with so many combinations broken, especially in the back row and three quarter line, it was difficult to stretch Clonmel. Missed tackles in this cup competition usually lead to tries and this was certainly the case in this game.
All is not lost yet and a win at home next Sunday against Killarney should see us into a play off for a quarter final.
