Bruff RFC 17 Nenagh Ormond RFC 10

On Sunday last Nenagh Ormond's U-14's season came to a disappointing conclusion when we were narrowly beaten in the North Munster Plate Final by Bruff RFC on a scoreline of 17 10.

We reached to the final on the back of a couple of good performances, and hopes were high that we could continue the run.

We started nervously with a few handling errors, and gave away a cheap penalty in front of the posts. Mason then went on one if his runs and scored a try in the corner, however the difficult conversion was missed. Bruff scored 3 further penalties over the course of the game, and with 10 minutes remaining they scored an unconverted try.

With less then 10 minutes remaining, some good Nenagh pressure yielded a try for Jack Mac but at 17 10 that was as good as it got - Nenagh could not break down a resolute and well organised Bruff defence and they ran out worthy winners.

On the day we never got motoring .... uncharacteristic handling errors and knock-ons and indiscipline plagued us, and we were not able to secure fast ball for our pacy backs. However to their credit the team, while bitterly disappointed, were gracious in defeat and clapped Bruff off the field and held their heads as they returned to the changing rooms.

Afterwards it was back to the Clubhouse for an end- of- season meal which was kindly sponsored by Barry Spillane of Spillane Precast Concrete Ltd.

Our 2108/19 season is now over- our thanks to all involved, coaches, parents and players.
