Nenagh Ormond R.F.C. Under 18 player, Hugh Guest has been selected to be a member of the IRFU Youth Council.
The IRFU Youth Council was originally formed in 2017 to address the issues around youth participation in rugby and to give young players a voice in how the game should be run into the future. Working as part of the IRFU Spirit of Rugby initiative, the Council consists of members from across each of the 4 provinces.
A focus of the Council is the transition of players from youth to adult rugby, to establish reasons as to why youths dropout and possible solutions to keep players involved with their rugby club in a playing and / or volunteering capacity. The members will be trained in how to organise youth consultations in their clubs / areas which will seek to encourage active communication with youth players, both boys and girls.
The club wishes Hugh the best of luck in his new role.
