Under 16:🔴⚪️

Nenagh Ormond U16’s continued their Pan Munster campaign with an away match V Clanwilliam/Kilkeacle/Galbally on Sunday. Conditions were very good for the first Sunday in November and the scene was set for a good performance by the Nenagh boys. However after a scrappy start and despite going ahead by a 7 pointer by Darragh Gleeson, the first half was uneventful. For the second week in a row a lot of penalties were conceded and this will need to be addressed before the big games coming up against Bruff and Ennis.

Nenagh started the second half in better fashion and Darragh grabbed his second try after 4 minutes and nailed a good conversion from out wide. Not for the first time this season the concentration dropped and we conceded a try under the posts after 8 minutes and it looked like it was going to be a one score game with the conversion under the posts, but Darragh Gleeson manged to sprint and block the kick to leave the score 14-5 to Nenagh. There was some better play by the team after that and at last they started to get their passing game going and they started to get some reward on the edges. Some good phase play saw Daniel O’Brien on his debut get a good try wide right again, the conversion was missed to leave the score 19-5 to Nenagh and the hope was that we would kick on to close out the match. However, yet again, some loose play saw a pass intercepted and Clan scored under the posts, the conversion was kicked on this occasion. An excellent kick off saw us get a lineout in the Clan 22 and some better running, passing and rucking saw the play stretched to the left hand side where Conor McGrath scored wide out. The conversion was good to leave the final score 26-12 to Nenagh.

A lot of work to be done in training this week with the big two games against Bruff at home next Sunday and Ennis away to finish this phase of the pan munster.

The squad remains very small and any players born in 2006 that would like to come to training to try out the sport, they would be very welcome. Training continues in Tyone at 7 on Tuesday Night and 7.30 on Thursday night.

Squad- Luke Grey, Dylan Crowe, Luke O’Callaghan, Stephen Armitage, Oisin Flynn, Dan Keneally, Ethan Kennedy, Aaron McGrath, Fionn O’Meara, Oisin Moloney, Cathan Gaffney, Darragh Gleeson, Tommy Wilkinson, Conor McGrath, Harry Sheppard, Daniel O’Brien, Ryan Gratton. Injured list: Luke Walsh, Conor Gleeson, Ciaran Leahy.
