Under 15: North Munster Under 15 League

Nenagh Ormond – 19                     Newcastle West – 12

Nenagh entertained Newcastle West under lights in the latest round of the league in Lisatunny on Friday night last. As with the last outing against Ennis, the plan to move the ball from the kick off paid dividends with top scorer, Marcus O’Mahony receiving the ball in space and outstripping the cover to dot down. Cillian Healy added the extras.

Nenagh settled into the game and managed to control possession and territory with Marcus adding a second try after 12 minutes. Some controlled play by Healy at 10 kept the game flowing with strong carrying from the forwards as well as Brehon O’Donnell at 12 serving to occupy the visitors’ defence. The hosts scored again on 27 minutes after a great run by Caylum Fogarty saw him beat the cover out wide and cut in under the posts for a great individual score.

The visitors managed to get a foothold in the Nenagh half just before the break. Repeated efforts to get over the home line were repelled by some great defending, with captain Emmet Jones leading the way. The line was breached just on half time leaving the score at 19 – 5 to the home side.

The second half was much the same with Nenagh controlling possession and territory. The visitors did manage to score a converted try on 55 minutes leaving the final score at 19 – 12 to the hosts.

A special mention to Nathan Mannion and Valters Janitens who played very well on debut and to team captain, Billy O’Brien who returned to the field in the second half after a while out with injury.

Training continues on Tuesday night in Tyone.
