Our Nenagh Ormond u18 girls travelled to Kerry to take on a strong Killarney side in the second round of the development league. Nenagh started strongly and were immediately on the defensive following a quick opening attack by their opponents. After successfully defending their line Nenagh began to dominate and after some very good work from our forwards the ball came through some quick hands from the backs resulting in tries from Kate Cavanagh and Saoirse Kelly. After defending 2 quick tries from Killarney the girls took control once more and another two tries were scored before half time from Katie O’Keeffe who took ball from the back of a scrum and Amy O’Mahony who burst through the defensive line to give Nenagh a 27-12 lead.
The second half saw Killarney come back into the game where they dominated the action but for some excellent defending and strong attack play a further two tries were scored by Kate Cavanagh and Amy O’Mahony. The girls displayed some very good organised play to secure a 39-29 win. It was a very good team effort and a well-deserved win for the team who have been working hard. Nenagh are home to Bantry this weekend where they hope to continue their success.
