Wednesday night marked the return of U20s rugby for Nenagh Ormond RFC. A gallant band joined forces with Bruff RFC and we travelled to play a very strong Young Munsters team in a friendly. The game started in a lively manner with the Nenagh boys contesting well and showing for the ball. It was a physical affair - both teams competed well at the breakdown, and looked to move the ball. Nenagh were short a few first choice players, however given the vast difference in resources it was inevitable that Munsters would dominate the game, but in fairness the Nenagh boys gave as good as they got. It was great to see guys who had not played rugby for 2 years, tackling, passing and enjoying the occasion. All told this was a very enjoyable experience, with all our guys getting loads of gametime. The courage, skill and never say die attitude showed by our boy's was remarkable and all in NORFC wish them the best of luck for the season. This is hopefully the start of a process which will culminate in Nenagh fielding a full strength XV at this level - which we hope will lead to greater numbers of senior players. Best wishes to Joe Shanahan who picked up a knock.
Next up is Shannon RFC next week. New players always welcome.
