Senior Rugby: The Senior 2nd XV took pride of place this past weekend with the 1st XV on a down week prior to the start of the Energia AIL this coming weekend. The team had a fixture with Garryowen in the North Munster Senior Seconds League in a game that was timed ideally to give a combination of injury returnees and extended squad members a chance to influence selection for that opening league game next Saturday. In a well contested game played by teams showing plenty of attacking content Nenagh came out on top on a scoreline of 59-24. There were numerous performances on the Nenagh side to give Derek Corcoran and his coaching team the right kind of headaches when picking next weekend’s squad but a special mention must go to John Coffey who chipped in with 4 tries on the day, from tighthead! All in all it augers well for next week’s fixture which is away to UL Bohemians at 2.30pm on Saturday on the UL Arena 4G. All support is greatly appreciated.
