Senior Rugby: Unfortunately the rich vein of winning form our Senior team had been enjoying of late came to a halt last Friday night on home turf. Credit where it is due this was a Cashel side who have been very consistent in the past number of seasons, finishing last year’s regular season in 2nd place to Queens University, who they in fact defeated in both of their fixtures against each other as well. Having slipped up at home to eventual champions Buccaneers in their home playoff tie last season it looks like the team means business this year. On Friday night’s display they will be a force to be reckoned with in this league and look determined to make amends for their narrow miss on a promotion final last season.

As for our boys, they put in a very impressive first half and may feel unlucky to only have led by two points at the break on the balance of play. But they will have regrets at being outmanoeuvred to such an extent in the second half. All the issues however are fixable and that fact, as well as the reality that a number of key players were unavailable, forcing a few others to play out of position, will reassure the squad that they are not far off the level of the very best sides in the league where Cashel undoubtedly sit. The final score was 36- 20 to Cashel.

A break week this week will hopefully see a few of the walking wounded get back to action before a tough away date with Ballymena RFC follows on October 29th.

Split the Bucket: Congratulations to our recent Split the Bucket winners including our most recent winner Eamon O Connell who wins a jackpot of 564 euros. This week’s draw also featured a bonus spin for 250 euros which was won by Bill Gleeson. Thanks to all who contributed, especially the many new subscribers at Friday night’s game who ensured our largest jackpot for quite some time this week. Remember every extra subscription means more potential winnings and there is a guaranteed winner each and every week. Representative Rugby: Congratulations to our four representatives chosen to play on the Munster Clubs side entered in the Munster Schools Junior Cup competition this season. The team had their first game last week and will have a number of other fixtures in the coming weeks. Well done to Brehon O Donnell, Nathan Mannion, Kedagh Broderick and Cillian Healy.

Under 10: Our Under 10s travelled to Bruff RFC on Sunday morning for their first blitz of the season. The kids have only been back training for the past few weeks, however they haven't forgotten any of the skills they developed last year and the new squad members have really hit the ground running.

In excess of 30 players made the trip so we were able to field three teams. The crowd were treated to some spectacular tries and a great fun morning was had by all.

Training continues on Sundays at 10am in the rugby club. New players are always welcome. Contact Pat Donnellan on 086-3846243 for more details
