Senior Rugby: The senior team took on Old Crescent RFC in Takumi Park, Rosbrien last Saturday and played out what was the ultimate example of a game of two halves. From being 25 points to the good with the bonus point in the bag after about 25 minutes of play, Nenagh allowed the home side to close the gap to 28-15 by the half time whistle but would still have been confident of taking a win home 40 minutes later. Unfortunately it was a case of role reversal in the second period with the home side inflicting their own scoring blitz and despite a late rally by Nenagh in search of a winning score it ended on a scoreline of 29- 28 to the home side. This will be a harsh lesson for Nenagh to stomach. Obviously in scoring 4 tries and taking home 2 points on the day all was not lost but the reality of squandering a 25 point lead will not sit well with players and management alike. This league is ultra competitive this year though and with a third of the campaign complete Nenagh are very much in striking range of the playoff places. A break of two weeks gives the team a chance to take the learnings from this frustrating loss before facing the last three league games of 2022 as well as a Munster Senior Cup semi final prior to the mid season break. This team has shown ability and character aplenty this year and they will need it all to bounce back from defeat once more when facing league topping Queens University in Lisatunny on November 26th. Challenges like this often bring the best out of a side and at their best this team is a match for any team not least the league leaders. An intriguing battle awaits.
