Nenagh Ormond under 14s travelled to Kilrush on Sunday morning last to take on Kilrush in a league game. Nenagh went ahead 7-0 approximately 10 mins in. An excellent try scored by Darragh Corish and converted by the boot of Hugo Healy. Kilrush soon ran the length of the pitch to score a try out wide, this was not converted. Momentum was now with Kilrush and they scored a second try to go in 10-7 ahead at half time.
Nenagh came out of the traps strongly in the second half and Hugo Healy scored an excellent try which was run almost from their own 22. This was converted also by himself. However Kilrush were not beaten. They soon scored their third try which was also converted.
In the last 3 minutes Nenagh managed to pin Kilrush back and had a throw to the line out in their 22 but unfortunately Kilrush managed to gather the ball and kick it out for a win on a scoreline of 17-14. A very close battle. Nenagh played a good physical game throughout. Well done to the 18 players and their parents that made the trip. Also it was great to see the injured Dara Gaynor on the sideline cheering on his team. We face Shannon in a challenge game on Sunday next in Tyone.
