After a well earned weekend off attention turns to the final act of the Energia AIL regular season on Saturday with the visit of UL Bohemians to Lisatunny. It has been a season of contrasting fortunes for both sides with Nenagh very much in the promotion hunt while Bohs are facing a Relegation Playoff to secure their 2A status for next season. Having negotiated that hurdle themselves twelve months ago this Nenagh side will surely avoid complacency against a team no doubt looking to build momentum before that game. Nenagh too could use a result to get back on track after a poor performance by their own high standards away to MU Barnhall last time out. With a promotion playoff semi final to come on Saturday week, in either Blackrock, Malone or Banbridge, Nenagh will be anxious to tap back into the rich form line they’ve followed for almost all of 2023 to date. In many ways this is the ideal fixture for both sides. Ultimately both know they have important business to follow but both are aware too of the need to put in a good performance ahead of a playoff, the need to sharpen combinations and get in the right mind frame for the last chance saloon to follow. In any event this fixture usually brings the best out of both sides given the rivalry developed over the past few seasons in the same division and neither team will wish to give up the bragging rights to the other. Kickoff is at 2.30pm on Saturday. As it is the last home game of the season the club have decided to halve the usual attendance fee to €5 as a gesture of gratitude to our wonderful supporters throughout the year. Please play your part and get out to give the lads a rousing send off before the promotion playoffs next week. In fact you will get a full evening’s entertainment as the Senior game is immediately followed by the Senior Seconds who take on their counterparts from Buccaneers RFC in the McCormack Cup. As always kids attendance is free so make it a day for the whole family to round of the 2022-23 season on a high.
